Bio


Karim Marquez was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. He received his first degree in Visual art at the Cristobal Rojas School of Art in 1995. The next year he participated in workshops and seminars in visual and dramatic arts at the Armando Reveron University. In 1996 Karim moved to New York, NY and received a scholarship to the Art Students League of New York where he studied painting with William Scharf and Larry Poons.

In January 1997 Karim became the youngest artist ever to have a solo show entitled “Chaos, Symbols and Universe” at the Wings Theater Recon Gallery in Greenwich Village. He has also participated in many group shows including “Emphasis” at the Venezuelan Consulate in New York City.

While still living in his adopted home, New York, Karim Marquez participated in Venezuela’s prestigious “VX Arturo Michelena Art Salon”. As a prize winner in that 2003 group show Karim’s painting, “Sacrifice” is in the permanent collection of Venezuela’s National Gallery.
